"Love One, Teach One" has begun feeding/tutoring program for children near capital city in Dominica
April 2007--
Anthony Williams, our U.S. contact for the new non-profit foundation "Love One, Teach One Foundation", has received the donated shoes, clothing and supplies (shipped in a barrel by sea-freight to Dominica) for the feeding/tutoring program to begin in the capital city of Roseau.
FAIRS made a visit to their facility in February, which has been allowed by the government for their use. Support has been given by FAIRS and others, and Gloria Walsh (formerly of Youthquake, a shelter/home for youth) has begun with the after-school programs with hopes to begin the feeding program as soon as it is possible.
Some words from Gloria (6-25-07):
How are you all doing? I hope everything is ok. We are doing fine, trying my best to continue doing God’s work for the kids.
Well our summer program is from July 16th – August 23rd. So I am busy organizing different programs so the kids will have fun. Only problem is the funding, which is being delayed, but the Government [is on our side and will surely] do what is best for us. My daughter is giving me great help as of today with the kids because school has a break for 1 wk and then to collect their report cards and then the summer begins. What I am trying to do is to mobilize the young persons to volunteer in the program! Right now I can’t employ anyone because the subvention grant is not yet ready. I am going to see the UNDP representative [today] as to the grant so I will give an update.
Tony (Anthony - in U.S.) is trying to send off a second barrel with food especially so I can prepare snacks for them for summer. Keep me in your prayers and may God bless you all who [are] assisting with our plea to assist the less fortunate in Dominica.
