David Larsen KK4WW founder and President of the Foundation of Amateur
Radio Service , FAIRS, opened the new Fairs office in the historic
short building in the town of Floyd, Virginia, on April 16, 2002. Dierdre
Dannewitz KG4VMI was hired as office manager to help organize world wide
operations. The office is located at 108-B South Locust Street, Floyd Virginia
24091. The official mailing address is: P.O. Box 179, Floyd, Virginia 24091.
The Headquarters is generally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday. The phone number is 540-745-2322. The official club call for the
FAIRS headquarter is N4USA.
In August of 2003 FAIRS along with Floyd County Amateur Radio Service
officially opened the Emergency Communications Center, ECC, is the basement
of the short building. The ECC is located in the same building as the FAIRS
office. The ECC was developed so that Floyd County would have away to communicated
in the event of a failure of other communicating systems.The ECC is centrally
located and has excellent radio contact throughout Floyd County. The ECC
is equipped with battery back up so communication can be maintained even
in the event of a major power outage.............Floyd
